No Ordinary Ordination

Image
Normally, my last post of the month is a Christmas make but I've got a very special, unusual celebration to share today.  Yesterday, Mr L and I had the privilege and pleasure of attending our very dear friend’s Ordination and Induction into the united Reformed Church.   We got to know Ruth as she is the wife of a friend and former ATC colleague of ours.  Ruth's a very warm, caring lady whose first career was in nursing and I know she will be brilliant as Reverend Ruth.    I am not at all religious so my celebration card for Ruth was not going to be the norm, most of which involve a quote from the bible.   Ruth is always very appreciative of the cards I send her and I know that she will know that, despite not being religious, the card and words therein, are heartfelt. My theme for the card was sheep, my thinking being that Ruth would be leading her new flock. The stamp set I used is Clearly Besotted Feeling Sheepish, which is an old set.   There’s n...

A Trio Of Pumpkins

Hello and welcome to my DT make for the Visible Image blog.   From the latest new release, I’m using my absolute favourites, the Halloween Pumpkins and coordinating dies .   There are two pumpkins (and the big one is huge!), some inky splatters and two sentiments in a great font.   It was the size of the large pumpkin that gave me the idea for this interactive slider card.  There's a quick YouTube video showing how I made this card here . Using the brand new Multiverse stencil and Ranger Distress Black Opaque Texture Paste, I used a palette knife and applied paste through the stencil.   I carefully peeled the stencil off the panel and washed it immediately in warm soapy water.   The panel was set aside for several hours to dry fully. Using Memento Black Tuxedo in...

See The Sea

Aside from my Visible Image Design Team posts, this is my first post not scheduled back in July.   We are having building work done, part of which is an extension to my craft room, which will make it twice the size it was.   It’s so exciting climbing up onto the scaffolding at the end of each day to see what’s changed.   Here’s my craft room so far… As it transpired, it was fortunate that I had all these blog posts scheduled as just over 2 weeks ago, my Dad had a heart attack, so I’ve had little time for crafting anyway.   This came out of the blue but fortunately the doctors found the problem and remedied it doing an angioplasty and fitting a stent. Mum has dementia and cannot be left alone and Dad is her carer so my sister and I were taking shifts around our work, to look after Mum.   It’s been full-on!   When I have had a couple of hours to myself, I’ve taken advantage of the glorious weather and living on the coast, and taken myself off to th...
