Autumn Toadstool

Our DT theme this week is Autumn Harvest & Thanksgiving and my brief was for a ‘Clean & Simple’ make.   After looking through my stash for what to use, I realised that I’d not yet used the TotallyToadstools stamps and dies which was handy as they fit the theme perfectly. To begin, I stamped the toadstool and large grass tussock using Versafine Onyx Black ink and added some colour using watercolour paints, as they were out on my desk! After using the co-ordinating dies to cut them out, I added Xmas Red Stickles to the toadstool cap and set aside to dry. For the background, I cut a 5¼” square of white card and stamped the various grasses and mushrooms along the bottom in black ink. Next, I blended Pumice Stone Distress Ink through The Forest stencil in patches around the panel. Draw A Blank

  Do you ever feel intimidated by the blank sheet in front of you?  Apparently, it’s quite a common to sit down with a white sheet of card in front of you and for your mind to go blank. I purchased a gel press plate to make backgrounds in the hope that they would provide some inspiration that would spark an idea. These cards were for ladies in the Lavinia Birthdays group so they feature Lavinia Stamps.  I began with these two panels to create two cards.  I wanted them each to have a moon and I hadn’t left space in the printing so had to create one. For the purple panel, I brushed on white pigment ink through a circular stencil, adding a little silver and some white gel pen. Using a landscape stencil, I added some distant hills and near ground and also blended some ink to darken the sky and make the moon more prominent.
