Cone-gratulations!

Image
My card for this week’s DT post is the one I made to accompany last month’s “Celebrations” ATC swap.   Since I thought that summer was just around the corner, I thought I’d celebrate the warmer weather with some yummy ice-cream cones using the Better With Ice-Cream set.   It seems that this corner is a very long one though as that warmer weather hasn’t quite materialised yet! I dug out some watercolour paper and used Versafine Onyx Black ink as I wanted to watercolour my cards.   Since the watercolour paper isn’t quite as smooth as card, I like to use my MISTI so that I can repeat stamp areas as necessary.   I started with the cones, added a flake on one and then added some candles from  Blow Out The Candles , since it was a celebration!   I just used some bits of sticky note to mask the bottom of the candles. I also gold heat-embossed the glow around the flame of the candles and stamped the sentiment on the ATC.   The panels were taped to a board to help prevent warping. After

Multi-Coloured Mayhem

My Colorado Craft Company Color My World stamp set was still out on my desk from the post a couple of weeks ago so I thought I’d have another play with it.   First, I decided to actually paint the brushes so I stamped onto hot-press watercolour paper and got busy with my watercolours.   To finish the cards, I heat-embossed the sentiment on vellum and wrapped it around the panel, affixed the panel to black card and then onto a kraft card blank. For the next cards, I was inspired by a tag that I made for a Facebook group challenge, the theme of which was “something you want to do more of in 2024” and mine was painting. Again, using hot-press watercolour paper, I stamped the brushes and the sentiment, although I found another stamp with the English spelling of ‘colour’ and used that instead. Next, rather than painting, I used ink-smooshing to add some colour to each panel.   On my craft mat, I smooshed several Distress Inks and sprayed water over.   I chose Distress Inks rathe

Biscuit anyone?

Just a quick post today to share with you one of my cards that I made for Creative Stamping issue 122.   My brief was to show the masking technique and different ways to colour stamps.  This one was coloured with Copic markers but I also used ink blending, coloured pencils, watercolour and ink ‘smooshing’ to create the others. I had a lot of fun creating these biscuit and cake themed cards. The afternoon tea stamp set that comes with the magazine comprises a huge array of biscuits and cakes plus some crockery. If you don’t have one, get your magazine here . The biggest honour though was getting the cover photo for one of my cards! This is the highlight of my crafting journey so far.

Splendid Snowdrops

It’s Mothering Sunday in the UK today and I’m sharing the cards that I made for my Mum and Mum-in-law.    The inspiration for purchasing the Altenew Craft-A-Flower Snowdrops Layering dies was from these two cards by  Jenny and Erum . Whilst I could have cut the leaves from coloured card stock or coloured the die-cuts, I decided to make a water-coloured panel of green for the leaves whilst I was creating the background for one of the cards.   For the background panel, I started with Altenew Water-Colour paints and then added Brushos for more vibrancy, adding some salt for texture. Next, the marathon die-cutting! I think this took me about half an hour to do.   I then assembled the flower heads so I had everything ready to go. I’d had a Waffle Flower frame lying around for a while so thought I’d use that for one of the cards.   The leaves and stalks were glued in place behind the bottom edge and then glued to each other or the top or sides of the frame as they crossed each other
