Merry Mistletoe

How are your festive preparations coming along? Things are somewhat hectic at our house.     The carpets were laid in the new rooms, which finally meant no more plaster and cement dust. What it also meant though was that we could no longer put off the cleaning! Everything is coated in dust, be it a horizontal or vertical surface, so it’s been a full-on onslaught of cleaning.   At least we can see where we’ve been!   I’m still crafting in my temporary spot in the study but hopefully I’ll be in my new craft room next weekend, provided that my new furniture arrives… It was lovely to have an hour out from cleaning this morning to make some tags with a lovely little die set I bought a few weeks ago.   It’s called Merry Mistletoe by Lawn Fawn and simply consists of 4 dies, which I cut from coloured and glitter card. I assembled the berry branches first.   The berries have a spot die-cut and it was a right faff poking out the little dots so, after the first couple, I didn’t bother a

It’s been a hectic week in the Lowe household.   I finally recovered from my lurgy on Tuesday so have had some energy to do stuff, which is good as lots needed doing!   Our building work will come to fruition next week when the carpets are fitted but beforehand, there’s still some decorating to do.   Mr L has been painting like mad whilst I’ve been poorly so I finally got around to wallpapering the feature walls.   This is my craft room so far – I love it! I’m really looking forward to getting in there and getting organised. I also had a crafty morning with my sister and a friend, making our Christmas wreaths.   Mine turned out to be a bit of a monster this time but there was so much lovely foliage to choose from! My friend’s husband also came around and he and Mr L chatted about space stuff and Dave had the honour of being a cat bed for Dill, which he loved. Do you like Dave's blanket? I made it for him for Christmas a few years ago. So, it’s just a quickie make for today’

Well, it’s been feeling very festive this week, what with the extended period of very cold weather and the occasional snow flurry and our visit to the local garden centre to see the reindeer.   They were called Rupert and Ronnie; I think this one is Ronnie. I also have finally finished Mrs Claus - it’s only taken me 3 years!!!   This is another pattern by the very talented Larissa at mmmcrafts .   My Mrs Claus hangs a bit wonky on account of the massive ball of mistletoe she’s carrying! Anyhow, she’s now reunited with Mr Claus on the tree. Finally, I got some quality crafting time with my sister and my friend when we made our door wreaths.   I went for a natural theme this year.   My quick crafting this week has been to make some tags.   I sometimes make a special tag for birthday gifts, particularly if I want one to match the card.   However, for Christmas presents, where the tag’s just going to get thrown away in the jumble of paper, I just want tags I can batch make.   I saw t

This week's card is another entry into the Mission Christmas Card challenge to myself. The turnabout stamps from Concord & 9 th are a quick way to create your own patterned card.  I used the Tiny Trees turnabout for this panel.  It did start out as a square panel (just under 6” square) but I dropped the ink pad on it so it had to be trimmed down. After stamping the panel in Stampin’ Up! Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Smoky Slate and Pretty Peacock, I then die cut a Christmas tree shape from the panel for the shaker window. A piece of acetate was adhered behind the window before adding some foam dimensional strips, ensuring that the window was completely enclosed so the shaker elements can’t escape! Next, the backdrop for the shaker window.  Since the front panel is quite busy, I didn’t want too much pattern on the backdrop but didn’t want it to be plain either.   After stamping the sentiment for the front, I thought I’d try a repeat stamping of the senti
