Crafty As L

Continuing my recent theme using Anita Jeram’s illustrations, this week’s cards are made using Colorado Craft Company “Ice Cream Day” which feature two of my favourite things; cats and ice-cream.   To begin, I stamped and clear heat embossed the images so that I could colour with alcohol markers and not worry about the ink running. I used a selection of markers to colour the cats simply and added some Stickles to give the ice-cream some sparkle. One of the panels was quite small so I used the small ice-cream cone stamp to add some details to the card blank. Finally, I matted the card using Neapolitan ice cream colours.   I had to add a some rhinestones onto this one as I managed to get finger prints in a few places. This card is more CAS and the smaller images are perfect for making cute 5” square cards.

A few weeks ago, it was our wedding anniversary and I’d seen a card like this on Pinterest and used it for my inspiration.   It’s a very adaptable design and can be used for many celebrations by simply changing what is written. To begin, I used my MISTI so I could align ‘HUSBAND’ using MFT Well Connected.   After leaving a gap for the stars, I repeated the process for ‘EXCELLENT’ but I had to leave some gaps as there are a few duplicated letters. To fill in the gaps and for the additional lettering at the bottom, I just stamped the letters individually. Using my smallest star die, I die-cut five stars from yellow card.   To add a bit mor character to the stars, I used the little smiley faces stamp from Lawn Fawn Gleeful Gardens .   To assemble the card, I backed it with black card and mounted it onto a square kraft car blank.    The stars were attached using foam tape.   I stamped a few small hearts around to finish.

For my card today, I’m using the Birthday Glow stamp set and I started by stamping and gold heat-embossing the large sentiment. After trimming the sentiment, I cut a 5¼” square of black card and marked in pencil where the sentiment would go.   This gave me the frame to work around whilst stamping and gold heat-embossing the row of candles. The row was perfect for the height but a bit short for the width of the sentiment so I had to repeat stamp, masking the area I didn’t want stamped with a sticky note.   I filled in the little gaps at the corner with my Versamark pen. To get the candle glow, I blended Delicata Golden Glitz ink over each flame using a small blending brush. Metallic waterco...

For today’s cards, I fancied doing some die-cutting so dug out a couple of Spellbinders sets to play with.   For the base of the arrangement, I die-cut the one of the Essential Circles and the pierced circle.   I appreciate that I’m using a circle and the post refers to corners but you get the idea! For the floral element, I used some left over die-cuts from Be Bold Blooms, adding to them as required.   For this card, I decided to add a silver accent using silver foil card for the foliage. After silver heat-embossing the sentiment from MFT Greetings Galore I arranged the foliage and flowers and then glued them in place, attaching the final flower with thin foam tape. I was going to mount the circle on a 5” square black card blank but my first attempt at drawing a border with a white Posca pen was awful where the paint had run under the ruler.   The silver Edding pen worked much better so I chopped the card blank in half and used the back as the mat layer. ...
