Mr Frostie

Image
Mr Frostie is one of the sets in the latest release from Stampers Annonymous by Tim Holtz.   I love both of the snowmen and with their sketchy style, they’re really easy to colour too. To begin, I cut two panels and stamped each of the snowmen onto them using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. To colour them, I dug out my Zig brush water colour pens and blended the ink out with a paintbrush and some clean water.   This was some super-quick colouring! For the background, I blended Weathered Wood Distress Oxide onto one and Iced Spruce Distress Ink onto the other, spritzing each lightly.   In future, I think I’d do this step first so as not to risk the watercolour running.   Using 2 nd generation stamping and Versafine Clair Morning Mist, I stamped the snowflakes around the background too. For the first card, I simply stamped the sentiment in black and added some clear Stickles onto the scarf, hat and nose and some clear Nuvo drops onto the eyes and butt...

Snowy Night

I thought it was about time I started on my Christmas cards since I haven’t done the same as last year which was making a few each month.   A recent purchase were some dies from the Tim Holtz vault release and this week I’m using the snowman from the Winter Wishes set. First, I die-cut enough bits to make four snowmen.   The scarves and hats are formed from two pieces so I added a darker shade of ink to the skinnier pieces for some dimension. Next, the pieces were assembled and the little snowmen came to life. The snowmen were going to sit on a snowbank and I wanted the sentiment to be heat embossed in silver on this.   This fun font sentiment is from Joy To The Woods by Lawn Fawn. The background sky was an inky sheet made using various shades of blue Distress Sprays and Spritzes which I’d chopped into 4” squares.   I heat-embossed Lawn Fawn’s Snowy Backdrops in white on each square. The panels were to be mounted on 5” card blanks, which I decorated by st...

Snowmen on Parade

This month’s Christmas offering features the Snowman Family by Woodware.   I fell in love with  this stamp when I saw it and it’s quite quick to colour in so is suitable for making multiples. To begin, I cut an A4 sheet of white card into four and stamped the snowmen.   I stamped 2 in MFT Hybrid ink and 2 in Versafine Clair Nocturn and heat set with clear embossing powder.  This gives a lovely shiny finish so I'll do it with all the cards in future.   For my first card, I Copic coloured the snowmen’s clothing in reds, added a light shading on the snow and finished with some glitter.   The greeting is the Let It Snow Border by Lawn Fawn, which I cut from some white glitter card.  You could make this card more personal by colouring the clothing in the recipient’s favourite colours or those of a team they follow. The second card was coloured in rainbow colours and I much preferred this to the plain red version, so I coloured the remaining 2 like t...
