Crafty As L

This month’s Christmas creation uses another Woodware stamp.   It’s called Top Hat Robin but on the price label, the shop’s description was Robin or Penguin.   I must admit, before I saw any of this, I thought it was a penguin.   So, I thought I’d try out both. To begin, I stamped the bird and sentiment in Versafine Clair Nocturne and heat set with clear embossing powder.      Next, I coloured the images using Copic Markers.   I added a few scribbles of grey underneath the ground the birds.   With the clear heat-embossing, there’s already some shine to the card but I added a bit more bling by using red and white glitter Nuvo Drops.   To add a frame, I scored each panel from the back all around the outside before mounting on a black mat and then onto a bright red card base. Which do you like best? The robin...   ...or the penguin?   The penguin is my favourite!  

This month’s Christmas offering features the Snowman Family by Woodware.   I fell in love with  this stamp when I saw it and it’s quite quick to colour in so is suitable for making multiples. To begin, I cut an A4 sheet of white card into four and stamped the snowmen.   I stamped 2 in MFT Hybrid ink and 2 in Versafine Clair Nocturn and heat set with clear embossing powder.  This gives a lovely shiny finish so I'll do it with all the cards in future.   For my first card, I Copic coloured the snowmen’s clothing in reds, added a light shading on the snow and finished with some glitter.   The greeting is the Let It Snow Border by Lawn Fawn, which I cut from some white glitter card.  You could make this card more personal by colouring the clothing in the recipient’s favourite colours or those of a team they follow. Christmas in July has been all over social media and fits nicely with my ongoing project to make a few Christmas cards each month.   This week’s makes feature Woodware’s Peaceful Nights, which is a slimline size Bethlehem town stamp.   My first thoughts when I saw this was heat embossing on dark card stock so I used Versamark ink and embossed copper on navy.    I then made another, silver on white, and the last one was black Versafine Clair ink with clear embossing.   For the black and white one, I stamped onto some sticky notes to make masks so I could blend a little brown ink onto the hillsides.   I also blended a little yellow ink inside the stable and over the star before colouring the houses with Copics.     The silver and white panel was coloured with Copic markers in grey shades and I used my new set of metallic pens by Edding to colour in the navy panels.   Lastly, I used the Lacy Frames by Waffle Flowers to layer the cards...
