Crafty As L

  Hello and welcome to my fortnightly Visible Image design team inspiration blog post and this week I’m focusing on the  Splash of Whisky stamps and  co-ordinating dies but giving them a Christmas twist by adding in the  Christmas Eve stamp set.   You've still got time to get your hands on a 30% discount off the Christmas category with code CC30 until the end of October 2023. My plan was a Christmas tipple in a cozy log cabin so f or the log cabin, I stamped the shelf from the Splash of Whisky multiple times using Verafine Clair Pinecone ink pad then water-coloured using Distress Ink Vintage Photo ink.   I die cut one (for the sentiment from Christmas Wishes ) and fussy cut the rest. I originally gold embossed the sentiment but redid it in white so it showed up more. I added a thin stripe of glue along one edge of each plank and adhered the next plank to create wood panelling. Happy New Year! I’d hardly got used to writing 2022 and here we are already in 2023.   How time flies!   I hope that you had a peaceful time over the festive period.   Ours was railroaded by the lurgy – I had a cold and Mr L is still suffering with the flu.   As I’ve not been feeling very creative, I thought I’d share the makes I gave away for Christmas. Earlier last year, Mr L commissioned me to make a housewarming present for his friend.   I’d just bought the Animal Heads to Crochet book by Vanessa Mooncie and he wanted me to make the stag.   Talk about in at the deep end!   The pattern is quite easy to follow although making the antlers was a bit of a challenge.   It was great watching him come to life as the various bits were stitched into place.   Here’s Dermot.   Are you ready for Christmas then? I don’t really know how (since December always follows November!) but December has suddenly crept up on me this year.  It’s been hectic getting cards and presents made, wrapped and delivered, together with going to work and also, sadly, having to return to Derbyshire for a few days for a family funeral.  However, the end of this week saw me being able to just relax and do some Christmassy things for me.  Firstly, my sister has come to stay for a few days so we started by visiting the local garden centre to see the reindeer that they have each year in December.  This year they were called Glacier and Cloudy and they were gorgeous, as always. This one was particularly hungry and kept coming to the fence to see if there was any food available, which allowed me several strokes of his velvety nose! Love that nose!!
