More Than Chips!

Mr L and I have just celebrated our 10 th wedding anniversary.  I wanted to make him an extra special card for the day so it had to be a fun-fold.   A few years ago, I made a twist ‘n’ pop card from Sam Calcott’s YouTube tutorial so I decided another one of those would be perfect.   I had lots of requests for a video tutorial for my last card so I finally got around to making one to go with this; you can find it here or watch it at the bottom of this post.   This mechanism works for a vertical pop panel in a standard card style or a horizontal pop panel in a tent fold card, like I made here . I started by making a proforma that I could keep for a future reminder of the process and I wrote my notes inside too.   If making the actual card, decorate the pop panel before assembling as it doesn’t lie flat afterwards.   I used a 5¾” square card blank, although a 6” one will also work if that’s what you have.   The other two pieces of card required ar...

Birthday Brew

One of my recent purchases was from last year’s Tim Holtz/Sizzix vault release called Fresh Brewed, which includes a mini embossing folder and a collection of dies to make mugs and take-away drink cups.   I paired it with sentiments from MFT Coffee Order. For the backgrounds, I used the embossing folder and a variety of complimentary coloured card.   Once embossed, I snipped out each coffee cup, making irregular shapes. These shapes were glued onto white panels.    I left the centres uncovered so that the sentiment could be stamped there. After realising that most of the sentiments wouldn’t fit in the gap (doh!), I die-cut a selection of the coffee cups and attached them to a stamped sentiment.  These were adhered to the cards using thin foam tape. Mr L bought me a new gadget for Christmas – an embosser with my ‘Crafty As L’ logo for making my envelopes fancy! These were the cards with the bright backgrounds which I mounted on a black background th...

Christmas Magic

More cards this week from the Tim Holtz/Sizzix vault release, this time using the Christmas Magic set of dies.   I do love a silhouette so I couldn’t wait to get playing with these. To begin, I started by die-cutting the buildings.   I cut them from black card and backed one with white card, slightly off-set, and another with white card which I’d left the windows in and coloured with a yellow marker. Next, I die-cut the sleighs.   Again, I cut these from black and also from silver glitter card which I offset behind the black die-cuts.   I then wondered what it would look like if I coloured it so cut it out of white card and coloured it with my markers.   I die-cut another sleigh from red card, added Wink of Stella and then decorated with a gold metallic marker.   After chopping off the runners, Santa and sack, the sleigh body was glued onto the coloured die-cut. I backed this one with black card. Last on the die-cutting schedule were the other bits in...
