Autumn Grunge

Image
It’s time for my Visible Image Design Team post and I’m channelling autumn vibes on today’s grungy card.   There’s lots of masking and stamping on today’s card to give perspective whilst creating a totally flat card.   You can use masking paper but I use sticky notes as they’re nice and thin so are easy fussy cut.   I stamped and clear heat-embossed all the images to resist the metallic sprays added at the end. When stamping and masking, it’s important to think about what you want to sit in front of, or behind, other elements and start with the foreground, where I stamped the flowers.   I used the small daisies from Daisy Grunge but the small flower from Sunflower Grunge would also work well.   After masking the daisies, I stamped the large pumpkin from Happy Halloween, masking the face when inking the stamp. A mask was created for the pumpkin and the daisies stamped again so that they would sit behind the pumpkin.   More daisies were stamped behind th...

Hey Baby!

Image
Our Visible Image Design Team theme this week is “Celebrate!” and there is little more celebratory than the arrival of new life.   My friend recently had a baby girl so Baby Love  was the perfect choice for my card. After cutting a panel 5¼” square, I stamped the handprints and footprints using Versafine Clair Baby Pink randomly around the panel. For the mat, I used some metallic pink foil card.   The sentiments were stamped in Versafine Onyx Black, clear heat-embossed then cut out at deliberately wonky angles.   The words were glued onto a scrap of the foil card and trimmed to leave a narrow pink edge.   If you don’t have pink foil card, any matching pink card will work. After adhering the panel to a square card blank, the sentiment was popped up on thin foam tape. This was a quick make so I made some extras for my craft fayre stall at the weekend.   For the boy version, I used Versafine Clair Arctic.   I used a block rather than a stamp posit...

Super Swinging

Image
I love a fancy fold and I’ve not made a swing-fold card for years.   This week’s Visible Image DT post is a square version although you can make other shapes too,  here  I made rectangular versions.    I made a 6” square card but you can go smaller or larger as you wish. The first step is to make the card base, which is also the mechanism.   I started with a 12” square of card and cut two 6” x 12” pieces.   One was scored at 6” (the centre) to make the outer card blank.   The second piece was scored at 3”, 6” and 9” (the quarter, half and three-quarter points) and folded valley-mountain-mountain. For the window, I cut a square from the centre of the card blank.   I used nesting square dies to cut this and my mat layers but you could use a paper trimmer.   I also cut 2 pieces 5¾” x 2¾” for the inside of the card. To assemble the card base, I glued the section of the mechanism from the valley fold to the edge to the inside back o...

Double Vision

Image
For my Visible Image DT post this week, I’m having a go at a double vision card – a card style I’ve seen all over the socials lately.   As it’s impossible to make identical backgrounds, I used the Tomorrow’s Memories paper pad for my backgrounds.   If you don’t have identical papers, you can make a cheat’s version by cutting just one panel into strips and glueing onto a black background.   A stamping platform is essential for this as the panels need to be identical.   After trimming the paper sheets down to 5½” square, I stamped and clear heat-embossed the branch and lady from Carefree Days . For the next stage, to ensure the stencil was in the same place on both panels, I drew around the panel and the stencil on my grid paper.   I blended Versafine Onyx Black ink through the Leafy stencil around the edges of the panels, added gold embossing powder and heat-set. One of the panels was glued to a square of black card ⅛” larger than the panel.   I glue...

Cosy Days

Image
Have you checked out the new Visible Image Wrapped Up   Christmas release yet?   For my DT post this week, I’m using a stamp and stencil from the new collection and my make has lots of texture and shimmer. For the background, I used Distress Grit Paste through the Close Knit stencil then set it aside to dry. Once dry, I sprayed the panel with Distress Spray Stain Lumberjack Plaid and Distress Mica Stain Yuletide.   Whilst the background was drying, I stamped, coloured and fussy-cut the topper elements from Marshmallow Moments . To add some more sparkle to the background, I rubbed my Versamark ink pad over some areas of the background, added gold embossing powder and heat set.   The smaller elements were glued to the background and the mug and sentiment were popped up on foam tape. Finally, I added some Wink of Stella to the heart and then covered it with Glossy Accents.
