Crafty As L

This die and coordinating stencils have been around the craft scene for a while and has been very popular.   They fly off the shelves whenever I get a restock notification but I hadn’t purchased as I could only get one of them.   I didn’t want to risk buying either the stencil or the die and then not being able to get the other. The Waffle Flower Postage Collage die cuts out a page of 6 postage stamps in one go.   The blocks stencil allows for easy colouring of the backgrounds. For my backgrounds, I blended Distress Inks in Wild Honey and Picked Raspberry and spritzed with water to distress. The main images were silhouettes from Waffle Flower Cattitude stamps and I used Postal Collage and Royal Mail stamps to add the postage details.   The cats looked a bit daft floating so I replaced the blocks stencil and used a sticky note mask to add some ground.   As you know, I’m a big fan of layering stencils.   This week’s card features Pinkfresh Studios Magnolias suite, which has a stamp set, layering stencils and die set which will result in a collection of elements to layer and create a dimensional card.  To begin, I stamped in Versamark and heat embossed using gold and silver powder.   Next, I shaded the leaves using blending brushes and just one green ink pad.   The detailed layer was done using the same ink pad and creates some depth. The flowers were next and I used a variety of colours, largely sticking to the natural colours of magnolias.   For the white ones, I just added a little grey for the shaping and shadows. The matching die is one unit and cuts out all the elements in one go.   Very handy!    This gave me 12 sets of magnolias for using on my next few projects.   My friend’s daughter has just finished her degree course with First-class honours together with having her dissertation published in a journal.   What an achievement!   For her congratulations card, I used the diamond pop-up card for the base, dimensions of which can be found here . The pop-up section would be the black mortar board cap, so I chose yellow for the card base and black and white for the layers.   I die cut a book and some glasses to decorate the left triangular mat.   The right was decorated with a die cut number 1 and a degree scroll, finished with a tiny piece of ribbon.   The black cap seemed a little plain so I used the stars from Lawn Fawn’s Tiny Backdrops stamps with Versamark ink and heat set with clear embossing powder to add a little interest and texture.   To make the tassel, I wrapped some black embroidery thread around a piece of card and tied the threads together at one edge, then removed the treads from the card. ...
