Our Visible Image Design Team theme this week is “Winter Colours” and for my “Clean & Simple” brief, I’ve chosen a colour scheme inspired by the Frozen films.   I decided to make Christmas cards to push me out of my comfort zone as I wouldn’t normally use these colours for festive makes.   It’s good to try out new ideas though and I really like the finished cards. The background is half a sheet of white card sprayed with Chipped Sapphire, Broken China and Picked Raspberry Distress Stains then topped with Distress Spritzes in Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet for some lovely shimmer.   I white heat-embossed the snowflakes from Sketched Snowflakes all over the panel before chopping off a 2¼”x 5¼” rectangle.     On a 5½” square of white card and using Versafine Clair Glamorous, I stamped and clear heat embossed the sentiment and small snowflakes.    To finish the card was matted and layered onto 6” card blank and embellished with gems.  ...

  Welcome to my Visible Image DT post where I’m stretching my stash and using a Christmas set to make a birthday card.   My Mum has Alzheimer’s type dementia and I wanted to make an interactive card for her that would make her smile.   The frosty mornings we’ve had recently inspired me to create a chilly-themed card and penguins were the ideal assistants! To begin, I applied Ranger Transparent Matte Texture Paste through the Frosty stencil onto a 5⅜” square of white card. Once I had a good, even layer of paste, I scraped off the excess, carefully peeled off the stencil and added Wow! Whirlpool Embossing Glitter and heat set.   The panel was set aside to cool and set.   The mix of embossing paste and glitter gives the background lots of texture and sparkle. Next, to create my penguin border, I cut a piece of white card 5½” square and stamped the penguin from the Snowman Jack stamp set around the edge of the square.    To make masks to enable...

Last post of the month is my Christmas Card Mission and my makes this week are inspired by a card made by Elisabeth Lainey that I saw on Pinterest.   The bears are MFT Polar Bear Pals and I began by partially stamping them and just colouring the scarf.   I then let my Scan N Cut fussy-cut them. Meanwhile, I looked through my stash and gathered a selection of festive foliage, stars and snowflake dies and cut a bunch of these from green and silver glitter card. The sentiment in the set reads ‘Have a Beary Good Birthday’ however I used the Christmas sentiment from MFT Greetings Galore, which uses the same font.   After stamping the greeting, I used MFT Stitched Triple Peek A Boo window dies to cut the holes in the panel. After arranging and gluing in place the bears and snowflakes, I cut a piece of patterned paper and adhered it behind the windows.
