Deck The Halls

Oh, my word! Have you seen the new Christmas release?   As usual, Mark has knocked it out of the park with these fabulous set of stamps, perfect for quick or more detailed makes.   For my DT make this fortnight, I’m using Sketched Holly, which has two sizes of holly sprig plus separate leaves and berries and two fab sentiments in a really cool font.   What’s not to love? To begin, I gold heat-embossed the single leaves around the edge of a square of green card.   This was the adhered to a 5¾” card blank. For the main panel, I cut a white square and stamped then clear heat-embossed the two sprigs of holly on diagonally opposite corners.   The sentiment was then stamped and clear heat-embossed a couple of times. Using a black fineliner, I added a wonky dotted line to line up with the sentiments to make a rough square. To add some colour, I used a variety of alcohol markers and coloured the berries and leaves. After gluing the panel in place on the ca...

It’s been a hectic week in the Lowe household.   I finally recovered from my lurgy on Tuesday so have had some energy to do stuff, which is good as lots needed doing!   Our building work will come to fruition next week when the carpets are fitted but beforehand, there’s still some decorating to do.   Mr L has been painting like mad whilst I’ve been poorly so I finally got around to wallpapering the feature walls.   This is my craft room so far – I love it! I’m really looking forward to getting in there and getting organised. I also had a crafty morning with my sister and a friend, making our Christmas wreaths.   Mine turned out to be a bit of a monster this time but there was so much lovely foliage to choose from! My friend’s husband also came around and he and Mr L chatted about space stuff and Dave had the honour of being a cat bed for Dill, which he loved. Do you like Dave's blanket? I made it for him for Christmas a few years ago. So, it’s just ...

Last post of the month is the Mission Christmas and this month’s offerings are made using Spellbinders Holiday Blooms dies.   They’re not quick makes but if you’re in the mood for cutting, colouring and assembling, making them is a very relaxing, mindful activity. To begin, I dry embossed the panels using the Holiday Floral Swag embossing folder.   For the green one, I dabbed the green ink pad on the inside of the top before embossing it to give a tone-on-tone look.    I die-cut lots of the foliage and flowers from coloured card.   If you can’t be bothered to add colour, you can just use coloured card, but I like the additional interest a little variation in colour adds to the design.   For the gold elements, I didn’t want a mirror finish so I used Red Gold and Light Gold from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colours on a piece of card, applying 2 coats to get good colour.   After die-cutting and colouring, the elements were assembled. After playing aroun...

Festive Fleeces

Well, here we are at Christmas already!  It really seems to have come around quickly this year.  Firstly, this week, I’d like to share some exciting news with you:  I won a competition on Craftworld.com last month!  The competition was a colour themed challenge for a Valentine’s card and the prize was a full page in Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine, issue 225.  The card I entered was  this one I made for Mr L a couple of years ago and I was chuffed to bits to be chosen.  Here’s a snap of the page in the magazine. Now onto my card for this week, although it’s actually three cards.  Our friends have a flock of Icelandic sheep so I try to do sheep themed cards for them for Christmas.  For the 2019 card, I used Clearly Besotted Feeling Sheepish and added some Santa hats, using Lawn Fawn Tiny Gift Box Holiday Hats dies. The 2020 offering used the bagpipe wielding sheep from Penny Black 12 Days of Christmas on craft card. ...
