Wildflowers

At the end of January, I travelled up to Stockport to visit Practical Publishing HQ for an experience day, part of the prize from Cardmaker of The Year 2022.  I got to meet 2 of my fellow winners, Tracey and Monika (sadly, Ann-Marie couldn’t make it) and we were hosted by Nicky Gilburt, editor of Creative Stamping, and Lou Collins, of Text{ures} and craft TV fame.  We met the editors of the various magazines, saw how the magazines come together and had a visit to the photography department and the studio.  Lou kindly gave us her Wildflowers Bundle and we got to do some quick crafting together.  It was such a fabulous day and we all had a great time.  You can read all about it here.

This is the first card that I made with the stamps – a ‘Thank You’ card for Nicky.  It seemed appropriate!  As there is so much detail on the stamps, I’ve found that using a stamping platform yields the best results.  You can also restamp several times to get a really dark image.  The paper is from the gorgeous Wildflower Paper Pack in the bundle.

After stamping the first impression, I wanted a repeat of it but didn’t want to mark the paper whilst I decided on the position, so I put the stamp on a piece of clear packaging whilst I decided where I wanted it, then closed the door of the Misti, picked up the stamp, then peeled off the packaging.

The last stamp was the wheat field from the same set and the birds are from Wildflowers Additions set.  The ‘Thanks’ die is one of the first I bought way back when and I’ve no idea of the make.  I cut it from black glitter card and mounted it on pink mirror card, offsetting slightly so that the pink just peeked out.  The sentiment was mounted on foam tape and I used my T-ruler to ensure it was level.

The card was finished by matting and layering on pink mirror and black card and some black embellishments.

Here are two more examples of cards I’ve made using other paper designs in the pack.  The one on the right also uses one of the dies from the Large Sentiments.

Whilst these stamps make perfect birthday cards, they are also suitable for other occasions, such as this sympathy card.  I blended some extra ink on the paper on this one and added some black ink ‘flicks’ for some extra interest.

Expect to see more from the Wildflowers collection soon as I love it!
