Perfect Peonies
Following my peony card from last month, I wanted to have a go with the same stencils but without the stamp for a ‘no-line’ look. It also gave me the opportunity to use my new Altenew ink pads in shades of blue.
My plan was to create a tri-fold card so I started with a DL card blank, added a couple of sticky notes down the score line and used the stencils, Altenew Fresh Dye inks and a blending brush to create the flowers.
The flower centres and leaves were added and then I positioned the matching die and taped it in
place. The card was then taped to one of
the plates on my die-cutting machine with the score line along the edge of the
plate, the top plate added and then run through my Big Shot Plus. Tip:
square edged plates are easier to use for this than those with bevelled edges.
This partial die-cut creates a shaped card front and I just trimmed down the score line to free the remains of the white card.
To make the other leaf of the trifold card, I cut a piece of heavy-weight vellum the same size as a DL card blank and scored down the centre. To create a more interesting background for the flowers, I die-cut a Diamond Background by Creative Craft Products from green mirror card and glued this to the vellum. The other side of the vellum was adhered to the back of the white card.
To add a bit of sparkle, I put the card in my splatter box and added some flicks of Blue Gold paint from my Kuretake Starry Colours paint set.
To neaten the back, I cut a panel to fit and glued it over the vellum. The sentiment is by Pinkfresh Studios and was double stacked for extra strength.
