Fantastic Fifty

My brother-in-law had a milestone birthday last month and he was not looking forward to being fifty-something.  To help with his transition, I thought I’d make him a subtle, understated card – NOT!   My plan was a fifty-shaped card and I used Inkscape to create my numbers, mat layers and card base cut files.  These files were then imported into Cricut Design Space, although I think creating offsets maybe possible in Design Space now.

I then cut out the shapes using my Cricut Maker, using different shades of blue for the mat and card base and white for the numbers and inner layer.

To decorate the numbers, I used Visible Image Bring On The Beers and Birthday Wishes and either black stamped and clear heat embossed or copper-heat embossed the various elements.

The card I used is Make ‘It’ Colour Blending Card as it’s perfect for Copic colouring.  I added a little decoration to the inside too.

The final job was to layer up the card.
