You For Coffee?
One
of my friends is having to leave our watch as another watch is chronically
short of staff. Whilst it might not seem
like a big deal, a watch is your work family and we forge strong working relationships,
and often friendships, with those we work with on a daily basis at all hours of day and night. We rely on and trust each other and often employ
gallows humour to cope with the pressures of a shift.
My friend is a big coffee fan so, rather than buy him vouchers and be tied to a particular coffee shop, we had a collection and decided to just give him the cash as ‘coffee vouchers’. To that end, I wanted to make a wallet to put the cash into. The free stamps with Creative Stamping 122 had a take-away coffee cup that would be perfect for the card. To start with, I stamped and clear heat-embossed the coffee cup.
I coloured the cup using Copic markers.
When we get a break with another colleague, an often asked question is “You for coffee?” and then we head to the canteen for a cuppa. Since he was leaving, I thought I’d take advantage of the phrase with a play on words. To try out lettering layouts, I stamped the cup several times and tried out various styles.
Once I’d decided on one, I used my light pad and traced the lettering onto the cup.
I fussy cut the cup, leaving a slim white border.
For the wallet, I cut a piece of card 20cm x 22.5cm and scored at 10cm and 20cm. I rounded the corners of the 2.5cm piece, then folded it in and adhered the top and bottom edges to make the pocket.
I used a stamp from Stampin’ Up! Nothing’s Better Than to repeat stamp the front cover.
I
used other stamps from the same set to decorate the envelope too. I like presenting money in a wallet, it's a little more interesting than just an envelope! And it made my friend laugh too!
