Merry Mistletoe

How are your festive preparations coming along? Things are somewhat hectic at our house.   The carpets were laid in the new rooms, which finally meant no more plaster and cement dust. What it also meant though was that we could no longer put off the cleaning! Everything is coated in dust, be it a horizontal or vertical surface, so it’s been a full-on onslaught of cleaning.  At least we can see where we’ve been!  I’m still crafting in my temporary spot in the study but hopefully I’ll be in my new craft room next weekend, provided that my new furniture arrives…

It was lovely to have an hour out from cleaning this morning to make some tags with a lovely little die set I bought a few weeks ago.  It’s called Merry Mistletoe by Lawn Fawn and simply consists of 4 dies, which I cut from coloured and glitter card.

I assembled the berry branches first.  The berries have a spot die-cut and it was a right faff poking out the little dots so, after the first couple, I didn’t bother and just dabbed a green alcohol marker onto the dot instead.  Much quicker!

To add a little more interest to the leaves, I coloured the stems and the tops of the leaves with an alcohol marker.  I also added some shading on the bows and finished them with a little Wink Of Stella.

For my tags, I die-cut three using the second largest from a Sizzix set.  I spattered some white onto two of them and added dashes around the third before stamping a small sentiment from Hero Arts Christmas Messages.  The mistletoe berries and leaves were simply glued in place and a ribbon added to finish.

These are quite a lot of work for tags that will be thrown away but I think they’d look great as the topper on a card.
