Deck The Halls

Oh, my word! Have you seen the new Christmas release?   As usual, Mark has knocked it out of the park with these fabulous set of stamps, perfect for quick or more detailed makes.   For my DT make this fortnight, I’m using Sketched Holly, which has two sizes of holly sprig plus separate leaves and berries and two fab sentiments in a really cool font.   What’s not to love? To begin, I gold heat-embossed the single leaves around the edge of a square of green card.   This was the adhered to a 5¾” card blank. For the main panel, I cut a white square and stamped then clear heat-embossed the two sprigs of holly on diagonally opposite corners.   The sentiment was then stamped and clear heat-embossed a couple of times. Using a black fineliner, I added a wonky dotted line to line up with the sentiments to make a rough square. To add some colour, I used a variety of alcohol markers and coloured the berries and leaves. After gluing the panel in place on the card, I used a Wink of Ste

Dear Dad

Mr L and I are both fortunate to still have our Dad around and in good health so this weekend, I’m sharing the cards I made for them for Father’s Day.   They each have completely different interests so rather than my usual two same-but-different cards, I opted for completely different cards this year. For my F-i-L, I used Visible Image’s 99% Chance of Wine stamps and dies.   I started with the background, using Versamark ink and clear embossing powder to give a tone-on-tone look and repeat stamped the wine bottle. Next, I stamped the bottle and wine glass separately, colouring the bottle with markers and adding the wine stamp from the set. As you can see from the finished card, I had to redo the glass as when I added clear Nuvo Drops, the water-based ink spread and was really blurred so I restamped and coloured with alcohol markers instead.   The sentiment is from the Time To Par-tee stamp set. For my Dad’s card, I used the Fisherman Boating stamp set by Inkylicous.   All o

Cone-gratulations!

My card for this week’s DT post is the one I made to accompany last month’s “Celebrations” ATC swap.   Since I thought that summer was just around the corner, I thought I’d celebrate the warmer weather with some yummy ice-cream cones using the Better With Ice-Cream set.   It seems that this corner is a very long one though as that warmer weather hasn’t quite materialised yet! I dug out some watercolour paper and used Versafine Onyx Black ink as I wanted to watercolour my cards.   Since the watercolour paper isn’t quite as smooth as card, I like to use my MISTI so that I can repeat stamp areas as necessary.   I started with the cones, added a flake on one and then added some candles from  Blow Out The Candles , since it was a celebration!   I just used some bits of sticky note to mask the bottom of the candles. I also gold heat-embossed the glow around the flame of the candles and stamped the sentiment on the ATC.   The panels were taped to a board to help prevent warping. After
