Time To Par-tee!

Image
When I saw the Breaking Glass stencil, it immediately occurred to me to pair it with the Time To Par-tee stamps, with a golf ball breaking the glass.   I’m no golfer but I am partial to a round of crazy golf! I started by making a background using Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China Distress Spray Stains. Once the background was dry, I stamped the golfer and the flag on it.   On a separate piece of card, I stamped and clear heat-embossed the large golf ball and the words. My tip when using stencils with very fine details is to apply a temporary adhesive to the back of them first.   This will stop the stencil lifting from the card and letting the paste seep under.   I use Crafter’s Companion Stick and Spray and let it dry for a couple of minutes before using the stencil.   I then used a translucent stencil paste and removed the stencil.  Don't forget to wash the stencil immediately in hot, soapy water! I added white iridescent glitter, tapped off the exces

The Cat’s Pyjamas

The Waffle Flower Cattitude stamp set was still out on my desk from one of my previous posts so when I needed a card for a cat-lover, that was the 'purr-fect' set to use.   To start with, I made my background using Distress Stains in Lumberjack Plaid, Mustard Seed and Broken China plus plenty of water.   I was lucky enough to win a set of 12 Ranger Distress Spritz   sprays in a Facebook competition organised by Country View Crafts and so I tried the Weathered Wood out on my background.   Wow! The amount of shimmer and sparkle is amazing!   Unfortunately, the camera doesn’t pick it up but in real life, it’s gorgeous. I stamped the sentiment from Newton’s Nook Cat-itude in the bottom corner first.   Whilst I usually work in inches, when I’m making DL cards, I use cm instead.   The main panel is 9cm x 20cm and the black backing is 0.5cm bigger.   This made the next step quite simple as I cut a 3cm strip of white card and positioned it in the centre of the background.   I di

Amazing Cats

Welcome to my latest Visible Image Design Team post.   Last month was the 4th birthday of 2 of our 4 cats, a pair who were a foster-fail from when we fostered 5 kittens for my friend’s rescue charity during the pandemic.   Scooby and his ‘brother’ Dill (who was actually from a different litter but all his siblings died) stole our hearts and a permanent place on our sofa.   I made these cards to say thank you to a couple of friends that have helped me out during a tough time in recent weeks. For quick backgrounds, I blended various Distress Inks onto 4” squares of card and spritzed them with water to blend the colours and lift off some spots. Using the Curious Cats stamp, I stamped the large cat’s face and whiskers onto each panel using Versafine Claire Nocturne ink. To make the eyes really pop, I coloured them using metallic and glitter markers.   Once they had dried, I used a white Posca marker for the highlights.   The noses were coloured using alcohol markers.
