Thistle Do!
I do like a layering stencil (and a pun!) and I couldn’t resist this new one from Card Making Magic called Thistle Cheer You Up! For my first go with it, I used traditional colours but next time, I'll try some alternatives.
As you’d expect with layering stencils, it’s just a matter of working your way through the stencils. These ones don’t have an order so it’s quite straight forward. I cut card to the same size as the stencils so it’d be easy to line up. For the first layer, I used Twisted Citron Distress Oxide.
The next stencil was the thistle tops for which I used Seedless preserves Distress Oxide.
For the thistle bottoms, I used Villainous Potion Distress Oxide and the last layer was Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide.
I trimmed the panel down ⅛” so that I could mat it onto some 6” square gold mirror card. I “gutted” the centre so that I could mat the sentiment with the same card. The sentiment, from MFT Fluttering Friends, was gold heat-embossed on a scrap of purple card.
I wanted some ribbon trim on the card so measured down the sides, added some tape and then attached two lengths of ribbon, crossed over at the front.
Finally, I attached the sentiment using thin foam tape over the centre of the crossed ribbon.
