Citrus Zing!
My project this week is the card and ATC I made for this month’s Visible Image ATC swap. The theme for August is “Citrus Zing” - colours that are so bright and clashing that you will need your sunglasses! Somehow, between signing up for the swap and making the cards, I’d translated this theme into Neon Zing and bought a cheap set of highlighter pens from Sainsbury’s to colour my design. I only realised my error when I went to the Facebook group to check the title. Fortunately, highlighter pens, by their very nature are clashy and bright so it still fulfilled the brief.
Cocktails and Dreams was my stamp set of choice for this project and I began by stamping the sentiments with Versafine Clair Nocturne and heat embossing with clear powder.
Next, I repeated the stamping and heat embossing with the drinks together with the accessories.
For the neon colouring, I roughly coloured in each drink, leaving some white areas. My colouring was a bit messy and had gone over the lines so I pondered how to overcome that.
I decided to colour the whole panel with my black Copic marker. This made sense since neon lights are usually used at night. This really added impact to the cards.
To highlight the bottom sentiment, I scribbled the pink pen over it all and then left a little border with the black pen.
The finished panels, whilst having more drama, still seemed a little flat so some trusty splattering using Dr Ph Martin’s Bleedproof white finished them perfectly.
I matted the card using paper layers that I'd edged with a couple of the highlighters and then mounted on a black card blank.
