Sew Much Fun!

Waffle Flower’s latest release featured another set of layering stencils to go with the ever-popular Postage Collage die and it was all about sewing so into my shopping basket it went!  I do love a layering stencil, seeing the picture develop as each layer is added.

This set includes five stencils and I also used the blocks stencil at the end, just to frame each stamp.  Each layer is embossed with a colour suggestion but obviously you can choose your own.

For the first layer, I used Weathered Wood Distress Oxide and switched to Encore! silver ink for the metallic parts.

I chose two colour schemes, pink & green and pink & orange – the photos do flip between the two as I kept forgetting to snap a pic after each layer.  For the pink layer, I used Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide.

The next layer was Carved Pumpkin together with some of the grey and silver from the first stage.

The next stencil is the decorative pattern on the fabric, thimble and cat.

The last layer is the little detail elements.  I used Twisted Citron Distress Oxide for the green part.

To add the postage elements, I used the Sew Fun and Royal Mail stamp sets.  The Sew Fun includes the face for the cat – he looks so contented!

I thought that the stamps didn’t look finished off so I framed each stamp by lightly stencilling the edges using the block stencil.

To show the perforations between the stamps, I like to mount these panels on coloured card blanks and black was the perfect choice for this set of cards.  The sentiments were sewing puns and that I’d printed and cut out and I finished off by adding Nuvo Drops in complimentary colours.
