Mr Pumpkin Head
For the focal image, I was thinking of a scarecrow with a pumpkin head so I stamped the Christmas Jumper and small pumpkin from Happy Halloween onto scraps of Tomorrow’s Memories Paper Pad and clear heat embossed. The jumper was decorated using the Knitted stamp. These were glued onto scraps of black card, fussy cut and set aside.
For the moon background, I used the large circle mask from Bubbles & Fizz on a half sheet of A4 card and sprayed over liberally with Crushed Olive, Dusty Concord & Black Soot Distress Spray Stains and Black Soot Distress Oxide Spray. I carefully lifted off the mask (keep it inky for later!), blotted some of the ink and then dried the panel completely with my heat tool.
Once dry, I spritzed water around the edge of the moon to reactivate the distress inks, causing them to bleed into the moon.
I took the ink-covered moon mask, pressed it onto my craft mat and added a couple of sprays of water. After drying the panel again, I pressed it into the inky puddles on my craft mat and then dried it again. I then assessed which part of the panel I liked best and trimmed it to 5¼” square.
Using Versafine Clair Monarch, I stamped the back row of trees from Into The Woods high enough that they could be seen against the moon. I didn’t want the solid line across the bottom edge of the stamp so I dragged the ink pad down from this to blend with the next layer, which I stamped in black. I use my MISTI when stamping this set as the stamps are huge and I can repeat stamp to get a really good silhouette image.
I used the large tree stamp at an angle to create closer tree branches creeping in from the sides to create more depth.
Who knew that the little owl stamp would double as a giant vampire bat when stamped upside-down??!
I had another scrap of the orange paper so I stamped and heat-embossed the large pumpkin, fussy-cut and glued to a piece of paper for the inside of the card.
The sentiment was heat-embossed using copper powder and the jumper adhered to the corner, trimming off the overhang. The pumpkin head was attached using a wobbler mechanism, which I thought would make it fun but it actually made it more chilling!
