Mellow Yellow

Image
This week’s card is the one I made to accompany my Visible Image ATC swap for April, which had the theme ‘Mellow Yellow’.   You could use only shades of yellow plus black and white.   I had seen some glorious yellow tulips in a garden locally so I opted to use the Sketched Tulips stamp set. Using masking paper, I stamped and fussy cut the tulip flower and then stamped and clear heat-embossed the first row of tulips. I continued to replace the masking paper and stamped and heat-embossed multiple tulips over the bottom of the panel and finally added a bee from Bee Happy. For a hint of sun, I blended Scattered Straw Distress Ink through the Strobes stencil, fading out as it reached the flowers.  The tulips were coloured using Copic markers.   I like to clear heat-emboss the stamping as then I don’t have to worry about using alcohol-friendly ink. To finish the card, I partially stamped the text from the set and added a few dots with a yellow Posca pe...

Daydreamer

Image
After another tidying mission in my new craft room, I rediscovered this stamp set, Daydreamer by Inkylicious, yet another that I bought a couple of years ago and have never used.   I had an inky background lying around which I thought would pair perfectly with it. These were one rainbow panel that I’d made using Distress Stain Sprays in Lumberjack Plaid, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Broken China and Dusty Concord. Using my MISTI, I stamped the main image using Versafine Onyx Black ink. After stamping the sentiment, I stencilled ink around the panel, fading out to the stamped areas. To finish the cards, I blended black ink around the edges of the panel before attaching to a rectangular card base and embellishing with a few gemstones.

Cake Is Always A Good Idea

Hello again!   How is it April already??   With the clocks springing forward last weekend, we can look forward to lighter nights and hopefully warmer weather.   No matter what time it is though, cake is always a good idea!   I made this interactive card for my friend’s 60 th birthday and stretched my supplies by extending the cake from Blow Out The Candles into a 3-tiered one. For my background, I blended Spun Sugar Distress Ink through the Hobbymaker Exclusive All Stars stencil.   If you didn’t manage to get one of these, Drizzle or one of the other cool Visible Image stencils will work perfectly instead.  Without moving the stencil, I applied translucent stencil paste, removed and washed the stencil, and left the panel to dry.   Once it was almost dry, such that it would hold its form but was still a little tacky, I used a dry paintbrush to apply some Pixie Sparkles dust. For the top tiers of the cake, I partially stamped each half of the ca...
