Be Bold Blooms

Another card featuring lots of die-cutting, this time featuring Be Bold Blooms by Spellbinders.  The card was to be for a very special lady whom I met whilst volunteering for Project 71, an organisation who provides support, company and assistance to WW2 veterans.  I sometimes enjoy making quick cards but do also enjoy immersing myself for several hours in building creations like this.

To start, I die-cut multiple flowers, stems and leaves from white card and then put the pieces back into the negative spaces to support them whilst blending ink onto them.

Next, I glued the bits and pieces together to create the various blooming elements.  For the flowers, I used a ball tool and foam pad to give the petals some shape.

Using a 8” square card base, I trialled a layout to check I had enough elements for the card.

For the sentiment, I used a Pinkfresh Studios Happy Birthday die and cut out the name and age using Lawn Fawn Henry’s ABCs.  I do love these letter and number dies as they’re small enought to fit on a card but aren’t too fiddly to use.  Four sets were cut plus a shadow for the Happy Birthday was cut from vellum.   One set was coloured in an ombré fashion, blending Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry on the top half, then glued the remaining die-cuts on the backs for dimension.  I used my T-square ruler to ensure the letters were level when gluing them on.

Lastly, the foliage and flowers were arranged around the lettering, some adhered using foam tape for more dimension.  The card was finished with some clear droplet embellishments.
